E-commerce web development issues

Hey guys!

Hope everyone is doing good.

I am setting up an online cannabis seeds retailer yet am running into issues with uploading all our stock to web designers such as Wix, Shopify, etc.

We have over 3500 products and want to be able to have a filter system that filters through variants such as THC Level, CBD Level, Yield, Flowering Time, etc -to make the buying experience really easy for our customers, in total we have 13 variations to filter.

On the web builders we are using we can upload a maximum of 6 which is an issue – does anyone know of any website builders that allow for more variations to be uploaded?

I have been advised to use WordPress and build a bespoke site to have more control over this vs a generic site builder – if I am to go this route does anyone know roughly

  1. What I should expect to pay?
  2. How long the build could take?

Hope the above makes sense!

Thanks in advance!

Startups – Rapid Growth and Innovation is in Our Very Nature!

I just started a custom web development agency. I’m lucky enough to have a couple clients already. Though I want to expand. What should I be prepared for?

I'm in the process of hiring some freelancers so I can keep up with the workload. I know that at the very least, I'd need to hire more devs to handle the workload. What else should I be aware of, what else should I be prepared for? I have a lawyer to help with the legalities. Though I've never done anything like this before. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

TARA Biosystems Raises $10M to Grow Human Tissue Outside of the Body to Aid in the Development of New Drugs

The average time to get a drug to market, crossing FDA hurdles, is 12 years and costs in excess of $ 1B. And in those twelve years, there is animal testing, human trials, and dozens of other steps that a company needs to go to. TARA Biosystems has found a way to generate human tissue OUTSIDE of the body that can be used in the drug development process to test safety and effectiveness without harming animals or risking human life. CEO Misti Ushio shares some insight on the potential of in vitro biology for drug development, TARA Biosystem’s different lines of business, and recent funding round from investors that include OMX Ventures, Merieux Equity Partners, Partnership Fund for New York City, Trancos Ventures, DEFTA Partners, and Tachyon Ventures.

Dot .com sightings : AIT Site Development #domain encountered

DomainGang.com: Domain sightings are encounters with random domain names in the real world. These are domains, mostly dot .com, and other TLDs, ccTLDs, and gTLDs, that make their way on vehicles, business signs, or product packaging. We document these “domains in the wild” by referencing the real world business behind the URL. Today&#821…

What courses, playlists or audiobook should I watch next to be the perfect “Business Development Idea Bouncing Guy”?

I work on a social media management capacity even though it is VA work, I love working with people who can teach me about running businesses. I am trying to pickup skills about communication and actually learn their business and operations technique first hand.

But the problem is that small startups can't keep paying me for whatever I do as they are cash strapped, and I am at the constant fear of losing my job.

So, I want to add more value about operations and ideas. I want to be that guy in the startups where co-founders can get an outside honest opinion. I want to add value beyond just the work I do. I want to be the guy whom the founders can bounces ideas off.

I have finished the course on "How to start a startup" then I finished Moz Academy's "1 Hour Guide to SEO".

Next steps after product development

Hi people! Well my startup right now has finished developing our product its a mobile app. As part of testing we are hoping to release the app for very selective testing, (mostly friends will test it out, but we also plan to give it to some clients(people we dont rlly know)) do we require a terms and conditions, or any other legal paperwork for testing? if yes then what legal papers. Also what tools can we use to make these papers, consider that we have a very very very limited budget, definitely not enough to get a lawyer. Also if its important its an e-commerce platform of sorts

Thanks

Post startup blues – Can you retain the pace of ultra-rapid development?

My company is in a bit of denial about the fact we're moving out of startup mode. I like the term scale-up as we are at the point where we have production services in place supporting more than a couple of revenue-generating customers that require us to be more risk-averse and formalise a Agile Development Methodology to co-ordinate activity.

I was basically brought in to move us through the scale-up phase as this has become my area of speciality and like every other time I've done this the co-founder/CEO/HIPPO wants to retain the rapid pace of development you tend to get with a team of fewer than 3 people, lots of caffeine and 100% equity.

Our pace of delivery is not exactly slow with a still-maturing CI/CD pipeline supporting multiple deployments a week but it's not what it was when customers were in the single digits

Am I missing something? is there anyone here in a similar boat or know examples of companies that have scaled up and successfully kept a startup mentality?

edit: spelling

Web development subcontracting with ad / web design / digital marketing agencies?

I want to start cold calling agencies to ask for subcontracting work, but I'm unsure how to go about it.

I'm a Python / Django full-stack dev. I have been told that this is too advanced for many agencies, as most are looking for WordPress / PHP devs. I don't want to have to move to that, even though my first language was PHP. But I will if I absolutely have to.

How do I go about asking for subcontracting work? Should I email them first? It's likely that a receptionist will be the one that gets my call. How do I ask for the decision makers?

Thanks in advance

[For Hire] Anyone looking for a growth marketer with business development, design, product management, website creation, and virtual reality experience?

Hey guys. I have started and helped managed several SaaS startups in Atlanta. I am looking to help companies during this COVID-19 pandemic. A lot of jobs and deals being put on hold are creating a lot of uncertainty for businesses and business owners.

A bit about myself. I have 6+ years working in marketing and business development for multiple clients. In 2014, I started my own consulting business in Atlanta. I am a fanatic of the LEAN STARTUP and have helped many SAAS companies receive funding over the years. Simultaneously while running my firm, I worked in several full-time roles in MarTech and most recently as Product Development Manager for a Virtual and Augmented Reality platform.

My skills range from business development, website creation, MarTech and FinTech services, team management, graphic design/logo creation, sales pipeline help, partnerships, and startup funding.

I would love to hear about new opportunities/partnerships or other job offerings. I am not struggling for work right now. But I know that there are many businesses who are during these crazy times that can benefit from my industry expertise. I am willing to hear all potential offers or opportunities that might be out there. Thanks and have an awesome appropriately social distanced afternoon 🙂
